Let’s talk world events and media. 🌏 I’ve Let’s talk world events and media. 🌏

I’ve had about a dozen conversations with friends and even strangers over the past few weeks about current events, the economy, the war, the stripping away of rights in the USA and it’s weakening democracy, etc.

As a frequent traveler and travel blogger I find I’m more often than not, surrounded by well read people who educate themselves on current events and pay attention to the world around them.

With that being said, I’m curious what sources others use to get their information on current events.

If you don’t mind sharing, I’d love to hear which publications you read or visit to learn about current events.

Here are a few of mine:
LA Times
CNN (it’s everywhere 🙄)
NY Times
Washington Post
BBC
Al Jazeera
SNL’s Weekend Update 🤣

Let me know your go to media outlets in the comments below. 👇

Let’s talk travel exhaustion. I’ve recently Let’s talk travel exhaustion.

I’ve recently been traveling a lot more than usual. In the past month alone I’ve been to Qatar, The Maldives, Dubai, and Memphis. And let me tell you, I’m exhausted.

I came home early from Memphis and couldn’t be happier to be sleeping in my own bed with my dog by my side.

As much as I love traveling and seeing new parts of the world, I love coming home just as much to recharge.

I’d love to hear from other travelers and bloggers on this. I know everybody wants to be a digital nomad these days, but more and more often I’m starting to think that may not be the life for me.

How about you? Are you a digital nomad who loves not having a home base, or perhaps you’re more like me and enjoy having a place of your own to come home to and recharge?

Let's talk kindness when traveling. We all Let's talk kindness when traveling.

We all know long travel days can often bring out the worst in people. As a frequent traveler I've seen and experienced all kinds of unpleasant and downright rude behavior from other passengers. I also know this type of behavior is more frequent in recent years than it has been in the past. While I have a few ideas on where this change came from, I'll leave politics aside for now.

Despite this rise in rude and unpleasant behavior from our fellow passengers, I think with a little effort we can turn things around and bring some kindness and civility back to air travel. I also think that starts with the majority of us demonstrating what good behavior looks like, including going above and beyond what would normally be expected.

Here are a few opportunities to demonstrate kindness to others while traveling.

1. Agreeing to change a seat assignment when asked by a flight attendant. If they're asking, it likely means there's a good reason, and it will probably really help them out.

2. Helping someone with their bag if they're struggling to get it into the overhead bin. If you're able and capable, why not lend a hand.

3. Bringing extra pens on the plane when you know you'll need to fill out a hard copy of an immigration form, then sharing the extra pens with fellow passengers.

4. Offering your overhead bin space at the front of the plane when someone else has a tight connection but their carry on will only fit in the back of the plane. Doing this may very well save someone hundreds of dollars if they're able to make that connection.

5. Helping someone get through the automated immigration lines when they're confused about how to scan their passport and the immigration agent is just yelling at them. This happens more than you'd think!!

How about you? Have you done any of these things or do you have any other ideas for being kind to others while traveling? Let me know in the comments below.

Have you noticed the women around you changing? 🤔

This may be a controversial take for some, but I think the 2020s is turning into a major decade of change and growth for women.

When I look around at my friends I see more and more women choosing to pursue their dreams despite what family, friends, and partners think.

I see more women choosing their own career over that of their partner’s.

I see more women starting their own businesses and absolutely killing it.

I see more women choosing not to get married and not to have children, and not feeling guilty for making those decisions.

I see more women out on the road traveling solo in the most adventurous ways.

And my personal favorite, I see all those women doing those incredible things, turning around and extending their hand to lift up the woman behind them.

I could go on forever about this but I think you get the idea.

But tell me, am I crazy or do you see it too? 🤷‍♀️
