If you’re looking for the best wineries in Sedona then you’ve come to the right place.
During my most recent visit to Sedona, I decided to spend my time researching the best Sedona wineries. It was tough research I know, but somebody had to do it.
After making dozens of trips to Sedona in recent years I had only been to one of the area wineries, so I decided that this trip I would tackle them all.
While some of you may not be aware, Sedona is located in a well established wine making region. In fact, there are dozens of small production vineyards all around the Verde Valley.
In fact, wine making has taken place here dating all the way back to the late 1800s. We’ll save that history lesson for another time, but just know that there are excellent wineries near Sedona.
In recent years, the many Verde Valley wineries have been generating lots of attention. The wine region is known for Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet but you’ll find many other varieties here too.

Best Wineries Sedona
The majority of the Sedona wineries and tasting rooms are located just outside the city of Sedona in either Cornville or Cottonwood.
For the purposes of this post, I visited the four wineries located along Page Springs Road in Cornville. I also visited one tasting room located in the center of Sedona.
I’ll be sharing my favorite Cottonwood wineries along the Verde Valley wine trail, including Arizona Stronghold and Alcantara Vineyards, in an upcoming post in early 2023, so stay tuned.
I’d also like to note this was a self-guided Sedona wineries tour so I experienced each Sedona winery as anyone else would if visiting on their own. There are also guided Sedona winery tours available if you prefer.
If opting for the self-guided wine tasting in Sedona I recommend breaking up your visits over at least two days. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water between each of the Sedona vineyards. This is especially important during the hot summer months.
My intention with this post is to share my overall experience at each winery including what I liked, what I didn’t like, and if I’d recommend a visit to others.
You can find the driving directions and address of each winery by using Google Maps.
Without that out of the way, let’s get to the wine tasting.
Javelina Leap Vineyeard, Winery, and Bistro
Javelina Leap Vineyard ended up being one of my favorite wine tasting experiences during my trip to Sedona.
I arrived at Javelina Leap early in the day on a weekend so I could beat the crowds. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by one of the staff and offered a seat either inside or out on the patio. Since it was such a nice day I opted to sit outside.
A large tour group arrived shortly after I did, but the service remained excellent despite me being the only one sitting outside in the patio area.
I sampled the flight pictured above which was a mix of reds, whites, and a rose. The rose ended up being my favorite.
What surprised me most about my visit here was the food. I ended up ordering a flatbread pizza called the Inigo Montoya, which came with Romesco sauce, grilled spring onions, roasted grapes, Spanish cheese, arugula, and candied walnuts.
This pizza was fantastic and I would definitely order it again. It was also light enough that it paired nicely with the wines, especially the white and rose, without making me feel too full.
Javelina Leap also has live music from local bands playing from time to time. If you get the chance, try to arrive when a band is scheduled for a more lively ambiance.
Overall impression: Loved it. I’m definitely coming back for the rose and that delicious pizza and I’ll be bringing some friends with me.
Service: The service here was excellent. I was greeted right when I arrived, the server was friendly and remained attentive throughout my visit.
Ambiance: I enjoyed sitting on the outdoor patio just outside the tasting room. I was comfortable and it was a nice setting to enjoy my flight. There is also a large grassy area with large trees and tables and chairs for special events or when they get busy.
DA Ranch Estate Vineyards
To be honest, my visit to DA Ranch was completely unplanned, but I’m so glad I stopped by. Its one of the best Sedona wineries with a view and has such a fun atmosphere.
I had just left Oak Creek Vineyards and was driving along Page Springs Road and saw a sign that said “DA Ranch Winery is Open.” I saw the sign and thought, “Say no more!”
When I arrived it was early evening and the place was buzzing with people. There was plenty of parking so I found a spot and walked up to tasting room where I purchased a tasting of five wines.
When you purchase a tasting at DA Ranch you are handed a wine glass and you select your first wine. Once you enjoy your first selection, you can head back to order the next tasting, and so on.
The server will ask for your name each time you order so they can keep track of which tasting you are on. There are a few different locations where you can order so you don’t need to go to the same place you started from.
After making my first wine selection, a delicious red blend, I found a seat on their large wooden wrap around deck overlooking the vineyard.
I slowly made my way through my five wines as I enjoyed the scenery, chatted with a few friendly locals and winery staff, and petted the cute dogs hanging around inside the tasting room.
Afterwards I walked around the property to snap some photos before making my way back home.
Overall impression: This was the most lively wine tasting experience I’ve ever had. Even though I was visiting solo, everybody here was so friendly so I never felt awkward or lonely.
Service: The service here was fast and friendly. Despite the large number of other guests, I never waited more than a minute or two for my next wine. Also, everybody was so friendly here. I ended up chatting with someone new each time I went up for another pour.
Ambiance: Lively and fun place for wine tasting in a beautiful setting.
Page Springs Cellars
Page Springs Cellars was the one winery in northern Arizona that I’d previously visited and I was more than happy to be returning.
I arrived at Page Springs Cellars in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday and there was a fairly long line to get in. However, traveling solo comes with its advantages. Once I checked in with the host I was seated right away since they had space in the wine club members section.
Once I was situated up at the bar, I asked the server to pick his favorite wines from the tasting menu. He selected some reds so I opted to add a charcuterie plate to pair with the wine, all of which were very good.
The tasting room at Page Springs Cellars overlooks the vineyard down below, which makes for a very picturesque setting for wine tasting.
After finishing my last wine, I ordered a pizza to take home for dinner. I remember their pizza from last time and knew it would make the perfect dinner to pair with the bottle I was taking home.
Overall impression: One of my favorite wineries in Sedona and I’ll definitely be back again.
Service: The servers are knowledgeable about the wine and very attentive. Even when busy, the service is quick.
Ambiance: I like that the tasting room overlooks the vineyard. The outdoor dining and tasting area is my favorite place to sit if the weather is not too hot.
Oak Creek Vineyards and Winery
Oak Creek Vineyards was my first stop while exploring Sedona wine country. I stopped in late on a busy afternoon after finishing up a nearby hike.
When I first arrived at Oak Creek Vineyards I walked into the tasting room and was told I could sit anywhere I like. I headed over the outdoor patio and sat an an empty table in the corner near the vines.
After taking a seat on the patio I ended up waiting about 15 minutes before anyone approached me to take my order.
While the long wait was not a great start to the experience, the server who eventually noticed me ended up being very friendly and service was fine from that point forward.
I opted for the Staff’s Picks flight which came with both reds and whites. While I didn’t order any food, I was eyeballing the cheese plate the table next to me ordered. It was too big for a single person, but it looked really good.
While the service was a bit slow to start, I really liked the relaxed vibe on the patio. I was also a big fan of the wine flight I ordered and ended up taking two bottles with me to go.
Overall impression: I really enjoyed the wines here and the food looked really good. I would love to come back for a second visit to give this place another try.
Service: The service here was slow to start but improved by the end of my visit.
Ambiance: I liked the outdoor patio seating and the fact that the patio was next to the vineyard.
Winery 1912
As part of my self-guided Sedona wine tour I decided to visit one of the local tasting rooms in Sedona as well. I opted for Winery 1912 since I’d heard so much about it during previous visits to the area.
Winery 1912 is located right in Sedona near some of the city’s most popular local shops and restaurants, so I headed over on a Friday afternoon to check it out.
They specialize is Spanish varietals so I was very excited to try their wines. I asked the server what she recommended and she was very fond of the reds, so I went with a tasting of several of the reds.
I also ended up ordering a small cheese plate to pair with my wines which came with several different cheese and some locally made chocolates.
My visit to Winery 1912 ended up being one of my favorite afternoons in Sedona.
I spent about 2 hours sipping wine, snacking on the cheese plate, and admiring the view of those beautiful red rock formations through their large picture window.
Overall impression: I had a fantastic time and I can’t wait to come back.
Service: The service is wonderful, the staff are lovely, you’re going to love it here.
Ambiance: The tasting room is spacious and comfortable and you can’t beat those red rock views.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this guide to the best Sedona wineries and that I’ve inspired you to enjoy some wine tasting on your next Getaway to Sedona. As always, thanks for reading.
